One can imagine him doing the Shaka (thank you) sign of the Hawaiians, which also means relax or unwind. To meet Anthony Alvarez is to feel the asphalt slipping away, that Paris is becoming “glassy”, with optimal conditions for surfing, no wind, soft waves under your feet… Anthony’s hands are strong, they gently grasp the new world that awaits him. Driving a van or rowing a stand-up paddleboard.
A finalist for the LVMH 2022 prize, he is charting his course. The success of Bluemarble proves it. The brand that this Franco-American and created in 2019 refers to the photograph of the Earth taken on September 7, 1972 by the Apollo 17 team – the first to show the planet in its entirety. In his studio in the upper Marais, Anthony and his team work closely together, sharing the same vision of the world, the same taste for travel and beautiful escapes. Mixing cultures – urban and otherwise – the energy is there, in a free-spirited vibe and colourful prints. “The hands are the embroidery, the knitting. Each season, I try to explore a craft technique.” This time it will be embroidery of sequins on baggy jeans. Creating collections or taking a road trip in a van are part of the same adventure – one of an open-space community, gifted with a sense of escape. “Fashion is a way of living. Through the collections, I hold my passion in my hands”.
