“X” as in together, “X” as in meeting, “X” as in multiplying creativity. This year, the Left Bank department store has decided to celebrate sharing. The initial concept was to create an all-out mash-up of the most unexpected associations : fashion, beauty, jewelry, lifestyle and children's items like never before. And to kick-start this (slightly crazy) game bursting with energy, Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche invited Philippe Katerine and his “Mignonisme” for an unusual collaboration filled with humor and creativity.

This exhibition invites us to reinstate them in this changing history of art, from Fauvism to abstraction via Cubism, Dada and Surrealism, but also in the worlds of architecture, dance, design, literature and fashion, as well as scientific discovery. A performance-exhibition conceived of by Olivier Saillard for J.M. Weston
With the collaboration of Sonia Ichti
Of our eleven iconic styles of footwear with an enduring design, the Cambre ankle boot is one that inspires a great sense of pride at J.M. Weston.
True connoisseurs know that the Cambre ankle boot is a cut above other boots that have tried to imitate it. The apparent simplicity of the boot’s curves belie the incredible, unique savoir-faire required for shaping it on a special form called a last. The upper is cut from a single piece of leather and then shaped on the last and assembled using unchanged proportions.
The Cambre ankle boot draws directly on the world of equestrianism, and nothing aside from some elastic has changed this comfortable, resolute design. Its tried-and-true stylistic simplicity combined with the unique expertise still used in the Limoges workshops explains the success this style has enjoyed since its creation in 1969.
In recognition of the unique appeal of this signature style, we have designed a women’s version with a high heel. While the flat version is remaining the same, this design variation brings a lofty city look with a bold dash of femininity to this famous ankle boot.
Beyond the timeless style of its creations, J.M. Weston always strives to remain faithful to what could be termed l’art de la marche, or the art of walking. Now, the practical Cambre ankle boot is being elevated to be the subject of a performance and exhibition.
Alongside the various creations on display, visitors and spectators can admire Sonia Ichti.
A model and self-described professional gypsy, Sonia Ichti appears within a display case cage with no glass. As she tells her story without artifice or embellishment, she puts on and takes off the flat and heeled boots, just so many pieces of carbon paper capturing moments of our lives.
In showcasing Sonia from head to toe with all the ups and downs of her story, J.M. Weston seeks to shine a light on her journey. Sonia’s nomadic wanderings are like everyday poems that you can noiselessly explore. Her words, like wisps of memories bashfully shared, are the bootlaces tying together itinerant ideas... We only hope the J.M. Weston Boutique and Gallery is a worthy stage for this unique performance.

WENDY YU UNVEILS 10 YU PRIZE 2022 FINALISTS AND A PRINCIPAL PARTNERSHIP WITH LI-NING TO AMPLIFY OPPORTUNITIES FOR UPCOMING WINNING CHINESE DESIGNERS The YU PRIZE, now in its second year, was set up by Wendy Yu in association with Shanghai Fashion Week and the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode as an annual initiative to boost and support the careers of emerging Chinese fashion designers. Following the announcement of this year’s 20 semi-finalists in January, these designers were set a creative assignment by Prize partners - UGG® and YUMEE - where they needed to demonstrate their ability to apply their creative ethos and design DNA to a product collaboration brief in order to be assessed for the next stage of the competition.
YU PRIZE jury members, who include Iris van Herpen, Michael Ward, Madame Lu, Mary Katrantzou, Pascal Morand, Renzo Rosso, Sarah Mower, Sara Sozzani Maino, Tasha Liu, Xuan Feng and Xiao Xue, reviewed the creative assignment submissions in tandem with the designers’ applications - these were scored and further discussed at a round table jury gathering in Shanghai so as to reach a final decision on the finalists.
The 10 YU PRIZE 2022 Finalists are:
ALIENANT
CHAN CHIT LO
DIDU
LOUIS SHENGTAO CHEN
MARRKNULL
PONDER.ER
PRIVATE POLICY

!" Sharing Wendy Yu’s vision to cultivate China’s creative class and accelerate the shift from “made in China” to “created in China”, new to the YU PRIZE 2022 is a principal partnership with professional sportswear brand Li-Ning.
“We want to make the YU PRIZE as relevant to real life as possible, helping designers to build powerful industry connections as well as gain access to commercial opportunities. Our partners and their platforms are crucial in providing this added level of strategic value for participating designers. I’m thrilled that our 10 finalists will not only gain recognition, but also have the chance to collaborate with established brands and pioneering companies such as Li Ning.” - Wendy Yu,
Founder of the YU PRIZE For the final stage of the competition, the 10 finalists are required to create two looks - one conceptual look and one commercial look inspired by the theme “Soaring Aspirations”; dreams of flying high and the continued exploration of possibility in the past, present and future.
"I hope that China's extraordinary designers and brands can be seen and recognised by more people, in the belief that Anything Is Possible." - Ye Feng, Li-Ning’s Group Vice President The finalists will present their looks together with production samples for assessment and scoring in person at the YU PRIZE jury presentation day on 15th March, which will take place at The Harrods Residence in Shanghai and on Zoom.
The YU PRIZE 2022 Grand Winner and select finalists will be chosen accordingly and will benefit from the development of a capsule collaboration with Li-Ning, which will launch in store and online later this year as part of the Li-Ning’s annual collections and marketing campaign. The YU PRIZE 2022 Grand Award Winner and Collaboration Award Winners will be announced during Shanghai Fashion Week at the YU PRIZE Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner.

The round table will include: Laurence Benaïm, journalist and author, Olivier Gabet, art historian and director of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris,Thierry-Maxime Loriot, curator of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and author of art books, Violetta Sanchez, actress, model and muse, Olivier Saillard, director of the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation.
