Arturo Obegero grew up surrounded by nature in northern Spain. He describes his hometown as “captivating, poetic and aggressively beautiful”, epithets also attributed to his personal aesthetic. Arturo acquired skills including pattern-cutting before graduating from Central Saint Martins. Stimulated by the world of dance, the surrealist and neo-noir movements, his creative narrative creates a romantic, sensual, and severe wardrobe for men and women.
How would you describe your Fall/Winter 2021 collection?
I describe my AW21 collection “Puro Teatro” as a way to express how I feel as a young designer living and working during the current tumultuous times.
What is the look or the piece that reflects the spirit of the season?
I would say that the look that reflects best the spirit of the collection is our blood red velvet full look, composed by our structural Cristóbal top and our Saura “high waisted” bodysuit. It’s sleek and dramatic and it also expresses the concept of the collection in the most beautiful way.

What is the message you wanted to share with this collection?
The message I wanted to share with this collection is that the fashion industry and world itself seem to be the biggest stage ever. What else could happen? Reality is overcoming fantasy and we are all part of this never ending performance, in which sometimes I feel constrained with everything that’s happening politically, with the pandemic and with a constant search for applause and attention. I feel that we are in the most beautiful cage called life, a velvet cage, the reason why I decided to entirely craft the collection with upcycled theatre curtains from all around the world, from Sydney to London.
