The Heritage of Aldo Maria Camillo

January 21, 2021

“With ALDOMARIACAMILLO I would like to create a wardrobe that evolves and expands over the years. A closet where clothes live, evolve, wrinkle, get dirty, and grow old with us” stated Aldo Maria Camillo in 2019 when he presented his first collection at Pitti in Firenze. He then joined the Paris Fashion Week official calendar.

How would you describe your Fall/Winter 2021 collection ?

With this new collection, entitled Heritage, I have decided to close the zero chapter.

Heritage because it is a permanent collection that includes pieces from the two previous collections (“Radici” and “Black Collection”), plus a few small additions and new trends, which I have selected to be the essence of the wardrobe for the man who identifies with ALDOMARIACAMILLO.

Heritage because it is inspired by what inspired me when I was younger, movies like Buffalo ‘66 by Vincent Gallo and Rumble Fish by Francis Ford Coppola, artists and musicians like Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, Thom Yorke, Kurt Cobain, Dave Gahan, and who remain to this day the main sources of inspiration for all my work.

Heritage because, even though my brand is still nascent, inside it coexists all the experience gained over 20 years of work within the world of fashion and the future that the past has made possible.

Heritage is therefore the end of a chapter but also the beginning of a new one, as well as the constant, the fixed point, the guideline for everything to come in the future.

What is the look or the piece that reflects the spirit of the season ?

The first piece of the collection is always the tailored suit in wool and cotton varieties such as English lambswool, treated military felt, washed cotton moleskin, washed habotai silk and Japanese velvet. The colour palette consists of defined colours that offer no room for nuance.

Navy blue, chocolate brown, natural white, anthracite grey and military green with accents of deep red running vertically through the collection, from tailoring to outerwear to shirts. Barrel washed leather and shearling—to give a soft, lived-in feel to peacoats, jackets, waistcoats and trousers—round out the essential wardrobe of ALDOMARIACAMILLO.

What is the message you wanted to share with this collection ?

These days, when socialising and sharing are scarce, when clothing seems to be a marginal part of our everyday lives, I thought it was the right time to reinforce the message of a timeless collection, which is also the auspice for a future (I hope arrives as soon as possible) when we will go back to living and when we will want to present ourselves to others as feeling even more like ourselves, comforted by the security of our heritage.
