Arturo Obegero studied pattern making for a few years before joining Central Saint Martins, from which he graduated in 2018. After a year’s experience in the workshops of the House of Lanvin, he chose to launch his own brand. His ready-to-wear is inspired by dance, surrealist and neo-noir movements. His designs make up a romantic, sensual and austere wardrobe for both men and women.

How would you describe your Spring-Summer 2022 collection?

Joyful, seductive and ready to hit the dance floor!

What is the look or the piece that reflects the spirit of the season?

The sea glass garments are the starting point of the season. I’ve been collecting sea glass and crystals since I was a young kid, back in my hometown of Tapia de Casariego, in Spain. To create these looks, friends from my town and from around the world picked up and sent me as many sea glass as possible. It was a really fun and collaborative project. It’s a full circle moment for me. I love that the ocean creates the most beautiful jewellery with glass bottles humans obtrusively throw in the water. I had help from the Compagnie du Verre here in Paris to transform the sea glass into material I could use to make those garments. They are fun, creative, sexy, and also the perfect touch to express the idea of freedom this new decade should bring, that’s what I had in mind when creating the collection.

What is the message you wanted to share with this collection?

The name of the collection is “Euphoria”. An explosion of sensuality, creativity, and togetherness, following months of restrain, restrictions and minimized social interactions. I want this collection to help us see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is about overcoming obstacles and focusing on the very idea of euphoria, as in joy and happiness in the way Ancient Greek philosophers considered those emotions central to achieving harmony and life change.

What word defines for you the future of fashion?

Empathy. Empathy for ourselves, for the people struggling around us, for those who have less opportunities and rights due to their background, and to our beautiful planet!
