Currently based in Berlin, Anne Isabella Rasmussen is of Danish-French heritage. After graduating from Central Saint Martins with a BA and an MA, she gained experience  at Jil Sander and Kenzo, and then began designing for Courrèges. In 2020, Anne Isabella established her eponymous label, which reinterprets vintage luxury through eye-catching prints, intricate details, and precise cuts – all explored through various familiar and time-spanning silhouettes.

About the photo: To me, this represents a moment between reality and fantasy.
It stands for what is and what can be.

What, in your mind, has been the most significant change in fashion from two years ago?
Personally, one major realisation has been the importance of the tactile in fashion. We expanded the boundaries of what is possible in the digital world; but for me, this came with a newfound appreciation for the fact that, ultimately, fashion resides in very physical experiences.

To what extent do you think fashion is about proposing and/or selling dreams?
What is the dream and what is the reality – aren’t we constantly floating somewhere in the middle? Fashion offers options.

How might this have a positive effect on people?
We all need an escape, especially faced with the current situation!

What is one trend or item of clothing that will define the coming year?
The humble zipper and button.

What would be your fashion dream-come-true?
Domenico Gnoli would paint one of my buttons. As he is not alive, this remains a dream.
